2. On the corrrencement of this order, but subject to

the provisions of Artioles 3 and 4 hereof:-

(1) the operation of the Principal Order, and of all

Rules and Regulations made or in force thereunder,

and the operation in China of the orders in Jouncil

mentioned in the Schedule hereto, shall be confined

to definition of reserved areag]", which are here-

inafter called the "reserved areas" ;

(2) the jurisdiction of all curto established under

the Principal order outside the reserved areas

shall cease and determine:

(3) the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court shall be

confined to the reserved areas;

(4) any Rules or Regulations made under the Principal

Order and having a purely local application entire-

ly outside the reserved areas shall be repealed;

and all Bulee and Regulations made or in force

thereunder shall be repealed;

Provided that nothing in this article shall affect the past

operation outside the reserved areas of the said orders,

Kules, or Regulations, or any of then, nor any right, title,

obligation or liability accrued, nor the validity or invalid

ity of anything done or suffered thereunder, nor take away

or sbridge any protection or benefit given or to be enjojąć

in relation thereto.

3. No twithstanding the otlær provisions of this order,

any criminal or civil proceedings begun before the commonoe-

ment of this Order in any Court established under the

Principal order outside the reserved areas, or in the deurs

established/
